What is a pet-friendly vacation rental?

Going on vacation with your dog at the seaside

That's why I've decided to make my gîtes a haven of tranquillity, so that you and your loulou(s) can spend the best possible vacation in a secluded hamlet, right next to the woods for a morning, lunch or evening stroll, and 5 minutes from the beaches for a stroll with your truffle in the wind.

And then there's the vacations, with our hairballs or nothing!

A vacation home with your dog (or cat, or rabbit)🤭) in Brittany

In fact, I've even got 6 gîtes for you to choose from, depending on whether you're in love with your dog, with your friends and your dogs, on a weekend getaway with your kids and your cat, or even with Violette, Sirius and Isis (oh no, they're with me!).

I'm well aware of how difficult it is to find a place to stay when you have a dog, and how difficult it is with 2 dogs weighing over 30kg, and which are also nice for the humans accompanying them.

Depending on the gîtes and the size of your dogs, I think I can guide you to the one best suited to your family.

And why book at the Gîtes de Kervarc'h with your dog or cat?

Because it feels good! I try to make your vacation an oxygenating, timeless bubble, a place to rest, recharge your batteries and, above all, a place to welcome your 4-legged companions.

  • The gardens are enclosed, between 120cm by ganivelles at Ty Jean-Michel and Ty Hélène, between 120 and 180cm at Ty Léon-Rose, Ty Joséphine and Ty Jeanne-Louise (the garden is not enclosed at Le Loft).
  • We don't charge extra for welcoming your furry friends.
  •  Barriers are available if you don't want them to go upstairs (also useful for young children!).
  •  I provide a water bowl, poop bags, sleeping bags on request if you've forgotten yours, plaids for the sofas (feel free to bring some if they have access to the rooms).
  • A hose with jets for rinsing after the beach
  • A great little stroll through the fields and woods nearby
  • Your loulous are at home here, I don't forbid anything in respect of the place and the neighbors.
  • It is possible to leave the dogs in the gîte during your (rare) absences, but this should be avoided just as you arrive (stress and barking).
  • All dogs are welcome, whatever their size or weight.
I ask you to pick up their popos in the garden, and to vacuum when you take the housekeeping option as I don't take any extra for their stay.

Are dogs allowed on Brittany's beaches? What about summer?

Of course!

Morbihan has the most dog-friendly beaches in Brittany in summer.

Many all year round, and a dozen or so in the summer between the Ria d'Etel and the Quiberon peninsula.

It's a good thing, otherwise Sirius would sulk, I think.

I've listed all these beaches in a post whose link I'll give you below to keep preciously.

FYI: Sirius' favorite beach is Maneguen.

And is Morbihan really dog-friendly?
And what can you do in Brittany with your dog?

With all the feedback from all my tenants (and ours), I can say that overall, yes, Morbihan is a dogfriendly destination.

  • Almost all the restaurants (even with three dogs, admittedly this was before the big summer rush and yet they weren't small).
  • All the coastal paths of the GR 34
  • All other hiking trails
  • Cruises on the Ria d'Etel, the Golfe du Morbihan (beware, you'll need to be a seaman)
  • Island crossings (free for dogs to Ile aux Moines from Larmor-Baden)
  • Sea trip with skipper or rental with boat license for the 2-legged boat
  • Paddleboarding, kayaking and electric boating with your dog
  • Les Petits Trains de Carnac, Quiberon, La Trinité sur Mer and Auray accept dogs on board
  • Prehistory park in Malensac
  • Poul Fetan in Quistinic
  • Village de l'An 1000 à Melrand
  • Chouannerie Museum in Plouharnel
  • Saint Dégan Ecomuseum in Brec'h
  • Brocéliande
  • Historic towns and villages
  • Certain markets are accessible to them (I'll warn you about those that aren't at all...).

Why do you accept pets in your Brittany rentals?

The adventure of seasonal rental began long ago in Kervarc'h with my parents, when the family farm was first renovated.

Like many people at the time, my parents didn't allow pets, because of the hassle of unscrupulous tenants moving out.

But as in life, you can change your mind, and your point of view, our policy today is to welcome only tenants with animals!

I know that these days it's not easy to find a vacation home that accepts animals. We're leaving with our 2 beautiful Gîtes mascots, who are, let's face it, difficult to camouflage ocularly and a little auditorily, because as far as the fur is concerned, I always make a point of meticulous housekeeping while systematically taking out a housekeeping package.

Our big furry family consists of 2 dogs, Sirius and Violette, long-haired German shepherds, and several (!) cats (found, rescued, reclaimed), 2 goats Khalif and Karma, 2 Ouessant ewes Gwen and Du and a small farmyard. All the latter have their own fenced-in meadow, but you're welcome to visit them.

At the Gîtes de Kervarc'h, you can share your vacation with dog(s) and cat(s).
